The Palos Verdes Stables was originally established in 1926 and covers 3 ½ acres of City land. Since its inception, the stable has sought to continuously improve its facilities and enhance its services. The stable boasts one of the cleanest stable facilities and grounds in the area, top-notch trainers for both Western and English riding and 24-hour security.
In 1992, a new barn was constructed, and in 1997, two new barns were built.Originally leased out to private contractors until 1983 (when the City assumed management), the stable returned to a concession arrangement with a private contractor in 2000.
Boarding:
Residents and non-residents may use the stables by mailing a written request directly to: Palos Verdes Stables, 4057 Via Opata, Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90274. Please include a contact name and number. Residents should also enclose a copy of a recent utility bill.
Programs and Services:
The stables offer riding lessons (both English and Western), children’s programs during the summer months, and outstanding riding and boarding facilities year round. The stable currently has three riding arenas (two of which are lighted), one round pen, two day pens, three wash areas (one is a warm-water wash) and access to community horse riding trails. There are 52 stalls in all, which include eight “in and out” stalls and fourteen pipe stalls.
