BUSINESS LICENSES
Title 5 of the City Municipal Code indicates that no person shall conduct any business within the City without first obtaining and thereafter maintaining a business license annually pursuant to the provisions of the Chapter and paying the required tax. This applies both to commercial and residential zones of the City.
The purpose of a business license is to regulate and license businesses within the limits of Palos Verdes Estates; to determine if businesses are operating within applicable laws and ordinances; to maintain a safe environment for the general public; and to assure that zoning, building, and fire codes are enforced.
The City of Palos Verdes Estates issues calendar year business licenses that expire each year on December 31st. Renewing your business license by January 31st is important to remain in compliance with the municipal code and to avoid late penalties.
If you are currently licensed you will receive a renewal notice from HdL Software LLC by mail in mid-December. If you do not receive a license renewal, or are a new business requiring licensing, please contact the Business Support Center at (310) 773-3301 or visit https://palosverdesestates.hdlgov.com/. Renewal forms and payments may also be submitted online.
New and renewing applicants must complete an application which is available below:
