The City Clerk, under the supervision of the City Manager, maintains all official City records:

  • Ordinances
  • Resolutions
  • Minutes
  • Contracts, Agreements, and Deeds
  • City Seal
The Office of the City Clerk is responsible for coordination and preparation of City Council meeting agendas and back-up materials, maintenance of the Municipal Code, and election administration. 

The City Clerk posts and publishes legal notices, ordinances and resolutions as required by law.

The City Clerk also receives and processes subpoenas, prepares and coordinates responses to public records requests, prepares and certifies Certificates of Residency (pensioners), and administers the Oath of Office.

Communications to the City 

Public participation and community input is encouraged and valued. General public correspondence can be forwarded to City Management or the City Council, as addressed, by email to cityclerks@pvestates.org  (or visit the Contact Us page for a staff directory to address department-specific correspondence). Written correspondence can also be sent via U.S. Mail to City Hall, located at 340 Palos Verdes Drive West, Palos Verdes Estates, CA  90274 - or by personal delivery to City Hall.

City Council Agenda Items

Written public comments are included with Council Agenda packets, which are posted on City website with agenda materials, when received by 5:00 p.m., or the close of business, the Thursday preceding each Regular City Council Meeting. Regular Council meetings occur twice monthly - on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. Written materials received after 5:00 p.m. on Thursdays (for a Tuesday Council meeting) are copied and provided to Council at the City Council meeting, and made available for public review at City Hall.   

Political Reform Act

The City Clerk's office is also responsible for the administration of the local reporting requirements under the Political Reform Act. City Councilmembers and the City Treasurer, as listed below, are elected officers identified in Government Code Section 87200 and file statements of economic interests (FPPC Form 700) with the City Clerk's office. Copies of the statements of economic interests filed by these elected officers may be obtained by visiting the offices of the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) or the City Clerk. The physical address of the FPPC is 428 J Street, Suite 620, Sacramento, California 95814. The physical address of the City Clerk's office is 340 Palos Verdes Drive West, Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90274. The statements of economic interests for some state and local government agency elected officers may be available in electronic format on the FPPC's website at http://www.fppc.ca.gov/.
