Home MenuPeafowl Maintenance
Did you know that Peafowl Maintenance was introduced to the PV Peninsula by community founder Frank Vanderlip in 1924? The population was unmanaged until the City enacted a Peafowl Management Plan in 1986 (a settlement agreement).
This program is managed by Police Department across two distinct zones:
-
Malaga Cove Zone (Malaga Cove Flock)
-
Espinosa Circle Zone (Luanda Bay Flock)
On a semi-annual basis, the Police Department conducts a peafowl census. This is to ensure that the City maintains a 21 bird minimum in each zone, achieved through a trapping and relocating program.
Street and Parks Maintenance Foreman Anthony Mendoza is our resident trapper/expert, who assists residents when peafowl issues arise.
