May 9th City Council Meeting
The City Council convened at its April 25, 2017 meeting to continue its discussion on balancing the FY 2017/18 budget to adjust for the $4.99 million cost for fire and paramedic services and structural deficit of $3.97 million. The City Council will continue its discussion at its May 9, 2017 meeting at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers, 340 Palos Verdes Drive West. The meeting agenda and staff report will be posted on Friday, May 5, 2017 on the City Meetings page.

May 10th Citizens Academy Finance Session and Community Forum
The Citizens Academy's "Finance" session will be open to the public who wish to gain a deeper understanding of the City's finances. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Palos Verdes Golf Club, 3301 Via Campesina, Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90274.

What services would you like the City to provide?
The City is looking to balance its FY 2017/18 budget to adjust for the $4.99 million cost for fire and paramedic services and structural deficit of $3.97 million. Have an idea on how the City can balance its budget?
During the month of the May, the City would like to meet with residents to learn what services they want to receive, maintain, and prioritize with the revenue the City receives from property taxes.
Such services include, for example but are not limited to:
- Street paving
- Law enforcement
- Tree trimming
- Code enforcement
- Weed abatement
- Volunteer programs (Volunteers in Patrol Service, Parkland Rangers, etc.)

Interested in serving on a City Commission or Committee? [New* Special Vacancy Notice]
Civic minded volunteers wanted! The City is accepting applications for terms on the Planning Commission, Parklands Committee, Investment Policy Advisory Committee, Technology Task Force, and Traffic Safety Committee. Interested Palos Verdes Estates residents are encouraged to volunteer and submit an application for the positions.
There will be two expiring terms on the Planning Commission,two expiring terms on the Parklands Committee and three expiring terms on the Traffic Safety Committee. Appointments are for a two-year term beginning in July. Commission/Committees meet monthly as follows: Planning Commission meets on the 3rd Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.; the Parklands Committee meets on the 2nd Thursday at 7:30 p.m.; and the Traffic Safety Committee meets on the 1st Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The Investment Policy Advisory Committee and Technology Task Force are new, and regular meeting dates and times have not yet been set.

Call for Interns!
The City of Palos Verdes Estates is seeking a PVE High School Intern who is eager to learn about their government; energetic; an excellent multi-tasker; and an outside-the-box thinker. If you would excel as an intern, apply NOW!
Through mentorship and under supervision, the Intern may perform average, moderate or complex level of work. It is designed to provide supervised practical work experience for high school students interested in public service within the community. The Intern will explore municipal career job functions working alongside City staff to learn about their local government. This is an opportunity for students to learn the functionality and management of a municipality. This position may rotate through various City Departments to work on special projects. Emphasis is placed on a variety of meaningful learning experiences, while at the same time, giving back to the community.
